Miss Cowboy was founded by two women who happened to share a background in the fashion industry and a love for an outdoor, horsey, tom-boyish life.
One afternoon, while we were sitting by a pond, hangin out and watching our dogs swim, we started talking about what we felt was lacking in the Western fashion industry. It seemed contradictory to us that a community so connected to nature and the earth didn’t have more brands to shop from that hold quality, longevity and sustainability as core values. We also wondered how it was possible that a group of humans so passionately patriotic and proudly American didn’t have more options for fashionable, high-quality clothing made right here in the U.S. And finally, we wondered why we didn't have a go-to brand that made clothes that were practical enough to wear to the barn but cute enough to wear all day.
It was on that day that the idea for Miss Cowboy was born. With those thoughts in mind we set out to make a brand that you can count on for high-quality apparel that blends the vintage charm of Western fashion with the practicality needed for everyday life living around horses. Sometimes we like to get dirty and sometimes we like to get dressed up, but either way - we always like to look good doing it.
For our first hat we designed a piece that captures the essence of a beloved thrift store find. We wanted it to be versatile and stylish enough that it could pair effortlessly with any outfit - the kind of hat you'd be thrilled to discover in a second hand store for its timeless appeal and high-quality construction.
Working closely with our Virginia-based manufacturer, we focused on achieving the perfect fit and ensured that the camouflage print was just right; not too bold, yet distinctive enough to make a statement. For the Miss Cowboy logo, we opted for a unisex style font, embracing a boyish look that resonates with the strong, adventurous spirit we admire in both men and women.
We are so excited to embark on this journey of creating high quality, fashionable apparel that speaks to the heart of western living – functional, stylish, and true to the spirit of adventure.
